200+ Theatres to Screen Moviebuff FirstClap short film!

Moviebuff First Clap, a theatrically showcased talent competition for aspiring filmmakers by 2D Entertainment, has released the finalists for its short film contest held on 20 January at an event held here recently.

The creations of these finalists will be screened in rotation at more than 200 theatres of the Qube Cinema Network from 29 June.

According to a press release, the finalists are Shyam Sundar (Cookerku Whistle Podu), Vishnu Edavan (Kalki), V G Balasubramanian (Kambalipoochi), Logi (Mayir) and Sarang Thiagu (Peraarvam).

In the competition, an aspiring filmmaker had to tell a story in three minutes on any subject of interest.

The films were shortlisted by jury members: Manoj Paramahamsa (DOP), Ram Subramanian (director), Vignesh Shivan (director), Karthik Naren (director), Nithilan Swaminathan (director), Arun Prabhu (director), Udhayakumar (sound engineer – Knack Studio), Ruben (editor), Rajasekar Karpoorasundarapandian (2D Entertainment) and Sathish Kumar (media reviewer).
This is the second season of Moviebuff First Clap and it has witnessed more than three fold increase in the number of entries (more than 750) that culminates not just with a cash award, but also the possibility of an internship with a premier production house, the release said.

During the screening period, the general public will be invited to vote for their favourite film by SMS or app-based voting.

The film with the highest votes (which shall be based on the number of public votes and the scores awarded by the jury panel) will be declared as the winner of Moviebuff First Clap short film contest.

The winner will get Rs 3 lakh, while the first runner-up would receive Rs 2 lakh and the second runner-up Rs 1 lakh. The winner would also be given an opportunity to narrate a script to 2D Entertainment and earn internship at there.

2D Entertainment founder Suriya and Qube Cinema Technologies (QUBE) chief executive officer Arvind Ranganathan were present during the event.
